Housing

Students who participate in one of our programs will be provided with accommodation either with a host family or in one of our apartments, all located near downtown and safety neighborhoods. Here below we will provide in-detailed information about the housing we provide.

For us, it is very important that your stay in Mexico is productive and unforgettable. That is why we recommend you to stay with one of our host families and fully immerse yourself in the Spanish language. All of our host families are previously and carefully chosen for the security and comfort of our students.

Living with a host family

When you move abroad to study a new language, it is a great idea to live and stay with a host family. While living with a host family, you will find many benefits that will impact your professional and personal life. Living with a host family, you will have the opportunity to improve greatly your Spanish skills and discover a new culture is a once-in-a-life time opportunity!

If you are staying with a host family and eating with them you will need to force yourself to speak the language, and also you will quickly begin to pick up words that are used in everyday situations. This means you will be learning Spanish all the time in a natural way and speaking it proficiently.

All students are assigned to families that we carefully select for your security abroad. We make sure you feel comfortable like at home while living abroad with them. That is why, we assure our host families are a welcoming, friendly and well-mannered family. They will help you not only to improve your Spanish, but also when you have problems in understanding the new culture while living abroad, as well as when you are feeling homesick. Your host family will treat you as a part of their family and not like a guest. They will include you in family celebrations, traditional local and national activities, and teach you the Mexican culture and the customs. This way you can have a better understanding of our culture and our way of living.

Living in an apartment

This option only applies to students returning for the second time with Órale overseas and 21 years of age. Living in one of our apartments is also a good choice specially if you prefer more privacy and carefree lifestyle as long as you avoid illegal activities. However, you should consider that you will need to cook your own meals for the entire time of your stay abroad. However, if you prefer to buy your own food, then it will be at your own expense.

Our team will assist you managing your expenses by shopping your groceries in affordable superstores. Another consideration that you should have in mind is that you will need to go to a laundromat to do all your laundry whenever you need to do so. Living in an apartment also means you will be a little distant in terms of language practice. You will have your language exchange partner after your classes end, so it would be great idea if you and your language exchange partner exchange phone numbers or any social media where you can be in touch, so that you can spend more time outside the classroom learning and enjoying the city.
