José Antonio

General Director of Órale Overseas S.C.

José was born in Mexico and raised in the US. He always had a passion in language teaching and became involved in both cultures. He studied education in Los Angeles at the University of West Los Angeles and taught English and Spanish in both private and public schools. But he pursued his bachelor`s degree in Mexico at the University of Oaxaca where he is now teaching English. His philosophy has always been that when you share the teaching of a language, you open minds that allow interaction between individuals from different cultures. José always carries a smile and is always outgoing with people as well as he strives to inspire others to pursue their dreams.

Ramiro García

Órale Program Advisor

Ramiro was born and raised in Mexico. Since he was in middle school, he had a passion for teaching his native language. So, he decided to pursue his dreams and studied second language teaching in Oaxaca. Then he pursued his master’s degree at Missouri State University in Second Language Acquisition, where he also taught Spanish at different levels. He immersed himself in the US culture and with other people’s identities and also spent countless hours admiring new places and sharing his Mexican culture with his professors and students. He also has fun by teaching Mexican idiomatic expressions and slangs to non-Spanish speakers.

She has worked closely in the government palace solving government issues as part of her job. She became involved with Órale Overseas as an enthusiastic supporter and eventually a staff member. Now, with her professional knowledge, she continues supporting all the students who come to Oaxaca.

Susana May Gabriel

Excursion Coordinator

Susana had been interested in sharing her culture with other people and learning what makes it different from hers. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in second language teaching at the University of Oaxaca. Her passion for studying languages was to travel abroad, learn about other cultures and meet different people. Traveling gave her a positive impact on her life. She learned that we can all have different cultural backgrounds and our own unique opinions, but the sooner we accept that everyone is different, the easier will become to understand and value cultural differences. Even though she studied language teaching, she is passionate about cultural immersions. Now, she loves showing the wonders of her city to others.
